Nickle Plated or Electroplated Diamond Disc's
Submitted by clegendre on Fri, 01/16/2009 - 03:16.
I'm looking to buy some disc's. I found nickle plated and electroplated. What are the differences and is one better then the other.
Thanks,
Carole

Electroplating
I'm note sure the comparison makes sense.
Electroplating is a process. Nickel is a kind of metal that can be electroplated.
There are two general categories of diamond products - electroplated and sintered.
Sintered are far superior and much more expensive. For example, an electroplated diamond wheel for a lathe that costs $125 would be in the neighborhood of $700 for a sintered version.

Electroplating
Thanks Paul, I couldn't figure out why one place calls them nickle plated and another calls them electroplated. I did see that the electroplated one said that it was on nickle so it is good to know they are both the same. I just wanted to check before I purchased anything.
As always thanks for your help.
