Burrs or sharp edges on hard and or irid glass

Hello-
I've been firing little buttons at 1480 degrees using a single layer of irid bullseye thin. With the irid side down or with hard glass, I tend to get burrs or sharp edges on the kiln shelf side. I have changed my kiln wash to thin fire shelf paper to see if this would eliminate the problem. So, please help me understand if it's the temp, hold time, or something else.

When I make "globs" with BE, using two layers, I only take the temperature to 1450. I think the 1480 is too high.
fusing with single layers
Glass likes to be 6-7mm thick due to its surface tension. The likelyhood is that you always will get the needling with only one layer of glass. This will increase with temperature. If you only want a little rounding of the edge, use the lowest temperture you can to get the effect you want. You will have to observe at tack fusing temperatures.
