how about having a section for "non-glass" topics?  imo, communities seem to function best when there's a place for rants, vents and laughing (and, perhaps, recipe requests)....

My suggestion would be to add on a forum area, perhaps grouped by state or general region (to prevent 50 pages of posts to sort through), that would allow members to post their geographical locatio...
